Overview

Mambo Italiano, located at 100 Main St in Irvington, NY, stands out as an intimate and authentic Italian dining destination. This cozy restaurant invites guests into a warm atmosphere where both the food and the service feel crafted with genuine care and passion. From the moment you walk in, the open-kitchen design offers a captivating glimpse into the artistry behind each dish, connecting diners directly to the culinary experience.

The kitchen specializes in traditional Italian fare with a modern touch, featuring housemade pastas like the richly layered tagliatelle with beef bolognese and fresh ricotta. The short rib pasta exemplifies slow-cooked tenderness balanced with a light tomato sauce and rigatoni. On the lighter side, inventive salads such as the Mambo Chopped Salad, with its mix of bitter greens, fresh mozzarella, and fig balsamic glaze, showcase thoughtful ingredients that elevate simple dishes.

Antipasti offerings highlight the kitchen’s attention to detail and fresh ingredients, with standout items like perfectly seasoned meatballs drenched in pomodoro and a honey ricotta cheese spread paired with homemade focaccia—both ideal for sharing or as a prelude to the main course. The seafood selection, including orange soy glazed salmon and shrimp ceviche, adds a vibrant contrast to the traditional pasta dishes, appealing to diverse palates.

Dessert here is an experience in itself. The homemade tiramisu strikes a delicate balance between lightness and richness, drawing comparisons to authentic Italian versions. The amaretto mascarpone cheesecake offers a creamy finish with nuanced almond notes, a testament to the skillful pastry craftsmanship.

What makes Mambo Italiano particularly appealing is its approachable yet refined vibe. It caters to those seeking a genuine Italian meal in a setting that feels both intimate and inviting—perfect for a quiet anniversary dinner, a casual lunch, or even a stop during a long trip through historic Irvington. The BYOB policy adds a personal touch, allowing guests to enhance their meal with their preferred wine or beverage.

Beyond the food, the owners’ visible passion permeates the space, enriching each guest's visit. Their warm hospitality has led to loyal patrons who praise not only the menu but also the welcoming service that makes every visit memorable. Whether you’re a local or passing through, Mambo Italiano offers a true taste of Italy, wrapped in comfort and authenticity.

We had a lovely dinner here celebrating our anniversary! The food was fresh and carefully crafted. The owner was obviously passionate about the menu and took pride in her work. The atmosphere was cozy and warm and they are currently a BYOB, which was nice. The food was generously portioned and delicious. My Bolognese dish was a mix of different flavors and textures with fresh homemade pasta, and ricotta cheese. The tiramisu was light and tasty - comparable to the desserts my husband enjoyed on his travels to Italy. If you’re looking for made to order, authentic Italian food - try this! You won’t be disappointed.

What a lovely place in a cute historic downtown. There is plenty of parking on the street. I was hungry and tired from driving from VA to CT. This was my last stop before getting home. The welcoming atmosphere, the friendly two ladies, co-owners, both greeted me and offered a cozy seat by the window. The basked of crusty rolls with some yummy whipped butter, herbs and spices came immediately. The special menu was written on a scroll of paper affixed on the wall. Great idea. So easy to read and be able to order right away. Amazing crab, arugula, mango, and avocado salad… I would order that again. I had a glass of lovely Bosnian dry white wine to go with it. All around - ten stars for this restaurant. Can not wait to try their other dishes. Pity it is pretty far for me, but I will stop by any time I drive to NYC.

Visiting from Pittsburgh, PA and we loved this place. It’s small and cozy, and you can tell the staff and chef really take so much pride in their food and service and they do a wonderful job. The service was fast, the food was so good and so fresh, you can see the kitchen within the room so you know what you’re getting. Such a cute and well done restaurant! Would definitely return!

This place is a gem, and it is reflected from start to finish. As a party of four on a Saturday night, we showed up right around opening time without a reservation - luckily, the bar was available. It was quite cozy for four, but that was made up for by the front row view into the small kitchen, where we watched with amazement as everything was artfully crafted. The view into the kitchen distracted me from taking any photos of the amazing food, but some of the favorites are shown in other reviews - like the perfect tagliatelle (homemade) with bolognese & ricotta, as well as the tender braised chicken with a creamy polenta. Luckily, I did get pictures of the dessert - including the proper tiramisu, and a simply delectable homemade amaretto mascarpone cheesecake. We spoke with both of the owners, who were very passionate about their work, and were very kind. When we visited in February 2025, they had just been open for one year. I was only briefly in town, but I would love to come back here as soon as possible. What a fantastic spot.

We stepped away from the hectic streets of Sleepy Hollow into the peaceful space of Mambo Italiano and what a great choice that was! The bread, the pasta, the dessert; all of it was clearly made with love, and from scratch. It was all so delicious and our waitress was kind and knowledgeable about the food. I would highly recommend stopping by for a very delicious bit of food.

The environment is a bit warm — if it’s like this in the summer, we’ll probably be sweating buckets. The service is very good. The wine list is a bit pricey — a glass of Italian table wine that sells for $30 a bottle is $14 here. It’s more cost-effective to get a whole bottle if you’re with a group. The dishes are plentiful and come in large portions. The polenta with pork used to come with mushrooms, but not anymore. That said, the flavorful meat is still very satisfying — you really need wine with it, or it’s hard to digest. The mini bread rolls are great; the butter mixed with tomato sauce tastes a bit like Thousand Island dressing. We also asked for olive oil.

Love this spot so much! Came here on the way back from Nyack and got a table outside. Delicious homemade pastas made with love. Adored the mushroom-sage-butter homemade tagliatelle the most, though the lasagna was pretty good, very meaty. The desserts are off-the-charts! So tasty and creative. Loved the pavlova with strawberry sorbet and the rich pistachio ice cream. Delicious warm bread basket with sun-dried tomato butter, too. Shoutout to Ana who is so warm and had great recommendations, welcome to us and our dog! We even made friends with another diner at the restaurant and hung out together on the rainy night. Telling everybody about this place.
